Will the Real Patricia Rae please stand up?

Will the Real Patricia Rae Please Stand up? Have you ever Googled yourself? If you do an internet search on your name, you may be surprised at the results. I was.
Now that MARK OF THE FAERIE is out in the world, in retrospect, maybe I should have considered a pen name before publishing, you know, something other than my actual legal name. If I had done some initial research, I would have learned that my name is not so unique.
I have discovered Patricia Rae is a common name I share with others around the world, but the funny thing about sharing my name with other people is when we get mixed up and shoved together on a search feed.
This one really cracked me up. Fabel is an online retail bookstore. They have all of my book covers beautifully displayed alongside what is ‘supposed’ to be my image.

However, I have never been a brunette or ever been that curvy.
The image of this Patricia Rae is an award-winning actress who appeared in multiple TV series in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
While most fiction authors do plenty of ‘private acting’ creating and working out scenes before writing them, I have never been on television. Though, some of my acting scenes have been damn good, maybe even award-winning! When all you have to impress are your teddy bears, it’s easy to pat yourself on the back.) 😊
Another problem is sharing a common name with someone in the same occupation. I’ve recently discovered there is another author named Patricia Rae, which I did not know about prior to publishing my books. This other Patricia Rae published several novels back in the 1980s through Kensington Publishing Corp. out of NY, and some of her stories revolved around nursing and hospitals.
Since most of her books are now out of production, I could find little information on the content of these books, or even a picture of the author, though I believe this Patricia Rae had been a nurse and drew on her life experiences. She also wrote a few other books that appear unrelated to nursing, and these steamy and sexy-looking book covers suggest nursing wasn’t the only activity happening in her stories. Maybe this Patricia wrote Naughty Nurse Novels. Ooh – sassy gal! 😊
Patricia Rae is my legal name, and it seemed the most natural name to use. It is easy to spell and something I’ll respond to. If I had used a pen name, something like; Alexisa Liberachi, I probably wouldn’t remember how to spell it, much less recognize the reference of it to myself. Personally, I do not know how authors who write in different genres and use different pen names keep it all straight. Confusion about who I am and what I’m doing comes naturally for a creative person. I don’t need to add layers.
So I went with the K.I.S.S. principle—Keep It Short and Simple. What could be simpler than your own name?
Patricia was the name given to me by my mother and father, and it means Noble Lady. Rae is the name my husband gave me, and as we all know, Rae is just another spelling for a ‘pocketful of sun.’
Put those two names together and I am a noble lady dressed in sunlight! I feel so special! 😊
Most of my friends and family call me Patti, but there are as many, if not more, people in the world named Patti Rae than Patricia Rae. Turns out I’m not so special after all. 😢
What is an author to do when she shares her name with famous, or even kind-of-famous, people? Well, I try to have plenty of social media posts that identify who I am, and those who are serious about seeking me out shouldn’t have a problem.

For reference, this is me: Patricia Rae author of the MARK OF THE FAERIE series, all dressed up in my Renaissance attire at the Moscow, Idaho Renaissance Faire. Gotta love the cosplay!
Book Five is coming!
Yay! Katilyn’s book will wrap up the MARK OF THE FAERIE series, and her story is amazing! To all the readers who are waiting for the last installment in this epic and magical saga, your wait will soon be over. I’ll be sending the MS to my editor before the end of summer, and the goal is to have book five, DAUGHTER OF EUPHORIA, released by fall of 2027. Good things are worth waiting for!
Where you can find me next:
Next stop on the fair tour for me will be May 23rd and 24th at the Holistic Fair at the Asotin County Fairgrounds.
Then hubby and I will take the summer off to catch up on some home projects. Since rising gas prices are making it unaffordable to travel long distances, it’s just as well to stay close to home. 🏚️
But come fall, I’ll be at the Spokane Renaissance Faire the first weekend in October, and I’m already looking forward to that!

Speaking of fairs, I have already met some wonderful new readers, and the year is still young! Thank you to everyone who stopped by my booth, shared your stories, and supported this humble author. You are the reason I am sharing this story with the world. Thank you for joining me on this adventure!
A side note: Even though AI is barreling down on us faster than we can keep up, it is our human experiences, our emotions and our flaws—all the messy imperfections of being human—that have real value.
Hold on to your humanity and keep up the good fight.
Hugs,
Patti
